(NASDAQ:BCOR) and Discovery Communications (NASDAQ:DISCA) today announced they have entered into a definitive agreement for Blucora to acquire the assets and operations of HowStuffWorks, a trusted digital information resource, from Discovery Communications, the world's #1 pay-TV programmer. The all-cash transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2014, subject to customary closing conditions. |
Blucora is a provider of integrated tax-focused wealth management services and software. Co. has two reportable segments: the Wealth Management and the Tax Software. The Wealth Management segment provides tax-focused wealth management solutions for financial professionals, tax professionals, certified public accounting (CPA) firms, and their clients, and operates as a captive, or employee-based, registered investment advisor and wealth management business that partners with CPA firms. The Tax Preparation segment provides digital tax preparation solutions for consumers, small business owners, and tax professionals through its website www.TaxAct.com, and its mobile applications.
