CarMax is holding company. Through its subsidiaries, Co. is engaged as a retailer of used vehicles. Co. operates in two segments: CarMax Sales Operations, which consist of auto merchandising and service operations, excluding financing provided by CarMax Auto Finance (CAF); and CAF, which consists of finance operation that provides vehicle financing to customers through its superstores. Co. also provides products and services, which include merchandising, wholesale auctions, extended service plans and guaranteed asset protection, reconditioning and service, and customer credit. At Feb 28 2013, Co. operated 68 production superstores, 50 non-production superstores, and four new car franchises.
