Cleco is a public utility holding company which holds investments in several subsidiaries, including Cleco Power LLC (Cleco Power) and Cleco Midstream Resources LLC (Midstream), which are its operating business segments. Cleco Power is an electric utility engaged principally in the generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity. Midstream is a merchant energy subsidiary that owns and operates a merchant power plant. As of Dec 31 2013, Cleco Power served about 284,000 customers in Louisiana via its retail business and supplies wholesale power in Louisiana and Mississippi. Midstream is a merchant energy subsidiary that owns and operates the Coughlin merchant power plant.
