MSEX: together with its subsidiaries, owns and operates regulated water utility and wastewater systems in New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. It engages in collecting, treating, distributing, and selling water for domestic, commercial, municipal, industrial, and fire protection purposes. The company also operates water and wastewater systems under contract on behalf of municipal and private clients, as well as provides water, water treatment, pumping services, and wastewater services. In addition, it offers a water service line, as well as various maintenance programs that cover parts, materials, and labor required to repair or replace specific elements of the customer's water service lines, and customer shut-off valve and/or sewer lateral in the event of a failure. ARTNA: through its subsidiaries, provides water, wastewater, and engineering services on the Delmarva Peninsula. It distributes and sells water to residential, commercial, industrial, governmental, municipal, and utility customers in the states of Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. The company also provides water for public and private fire protection to customers in its service territories. In addition, it designs and builds water and wastewater infrastructure; and provides contract water, wastewater, and engineering services. As of December 31, 2009, the company had approximately 76,900 metered customers and 730 wastewater customers, and served a population of approximately 276,000. It served customers through approximately 1,124 miles of transmission and distribution mains. The company was founded in 1905 and is headquartered in Newark, Delaware. CTWS: through its subsidiaries, operates as a regulated water company in Connecticut. It operates in three segments: Water Activities, Real Estate Transactions, and Services and Rentals. The Water Activities segment supplies drinking water. The Real Estate Transactions segment involves in the sale or donation of its real estate holdings. The Services and Rentals segment provides contracted services to water and wastewater utilities and other clients, which include contract operations of water and wastewater facilities; Linebacker, an optional service line protection program that comprises repairing or replacing leaking or broken water service line, curb box, curb box cover, meter pit, meter pit cover, meter pit valve, and in-home water main shut off valve before the meter; and providing bulk deliveries of emergency drinking water to businesses and residences through tanker trucks. This segment also engages in leasing and renting residential and commercial properties.
