KBH: one of the largest homebuilders in the US. KB Home builds mainly for first-time and trade-up buyers in Arizona, California, the Carolinas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. DHI: top homebuilder in the US, the company sold more than 53,000 homes in fiscal 2006. D.R. Horton mainly builds single-family homes designed for the entry-level and move-up markets. Homes range from 1,000 sq. ft. to 5,000 sq. ft., with an average selling price of about $273,000; its luxury homes can cost up to $900,000. LEN: one of the largest homebuilding, land-owning, loan-making leviathans in the US. The company joins D.R. Horton, Pulte Homes, and Centex in the top tier of US homebuilders. Lennar builds about 49,000 homes annually for first-time buyers, move-up, and active adults in nearly 20 states. Home prices average $315,000.
