So we've done a bit of the legwork for you. Here are 7 areas in which the Internet can save you money or help you make money. Pass our list on to your nearest and dearest.1) Travel. Compare the cost of gas with the cost of flying. You can do so by using the free calculator at: http://www.fuelcostcalculator.com/. For example, driving four people from Denver to Nashville in a 2007 Toyota Corolla uses about 67 gallons of gas and recently cost about $260 roundtrip.
2) Shopping. Before you make your next purchase on the Internet, find out if there is a discount code for the item or items. More than half of the online retailers offer discount codes - at least some of the time. Check out these four websites:

3) Salaries. Are you getting paid enough? Would you be better off if you worked in the same position but with another company? Find out at http://www.glassdoor.com/. The current salaries paid by hundreds of major employers around the country are posted here, along with additional information.
4) Credit card repair. Unfortunately, some credit-counseling agencies are not on the up-and-up and they take advantage of people who are deeply in debt - or even not so deeply in debt. They ask for upfront fees for services that are either unnecessary or that never happen. The Federal Trade Commission has excellent advice on credit repair companies at: http://www.ftc.gov/.
Tip: The FTC also has information on Identity Theft.
5) Driving. Filling up the tank is a pricey activity these days. To compare gas prices go to:

6) Charity solicitations. As you may know, charities are exempt from the National Do Not Call Registry. If you want to stop mail solicitations from any U.S. charity, use the sample letter provided by the American Institute on Philanthropy at: www.charitywatch.org/articles/fundraising.htm.
7) Gift cards. Experts who track the numbers report that 27% of the people who receive gift cards never use them! If you're among that 27% you should know that you can sell or swap gift cards through several websites, including:
